Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do you add sugar in your yogurt?

Yes, we use a very small amount—only 1%—in our Original Coconut Yogurts. This tiny bit of sugar is actually for the live cultures; it acts as their “food” to spark the fermentation process. For our other flavored yogurts, we add just enough to balance the natural tanginess, ensuring a smooth, rounded flavor.

Can I eat or drink Gutsuka if I’m allergic to dairy?

Yes. All Gutsuka products are dairy-free, lactose-free, and casein-free.

It is important to note that a dairy allergy is an immune system reaction to the proteins found in dairy products (like casein or whey), which can range from mild indigestion to a more severe reaction like anaphylaxis. This is different from lactose intolerance, which is a digestive issue where the body has difficulty breaking down natural milk sugars.

While our products are crafted to be a safe alternative for both, we always recommend that anyone with a known allergy consult their doctor before introducing a new food into their diet.

Does Gutsuka contain any artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives?

No. Gutsuka is 100% free from artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. We rely entirely on the natural creaminess of coconuts, the authentic fermentation process, and real, whole fruits to create our unique taste and texture.

Why does Gutsuka have less protein than dairy yogurt?

We choose to keep Gutsuka as natural as possible, staying true to whole, plant-based ingredients without added supplements or fortifiers. Unlike dairy, which naturally contains a high amount of protein, coconuts have a different nutrient profile that’s lower in protein but rich in healthy MCT fats and beneficial nutrients.

Tips: If you’re looking to boost your protein intake, we suggest pairing our yogurt with a handful of nuts, seeds, or your favorite plant-based protein source. This way, you’re getting all the goodness of coconut in its pure form, along with a balanced diet!

Is Gutsuka yogurt pasteurized?

No. We never pasteurize Gutsuka after fermentation. We package it immediately to ensure the live, active probiotics stay vibrant and beneficial for your gut health.

What is the difference between a dairy and a vegan starter?

While dairy starters rely on lactose, the vegan cultures are specifically grown on plant-based mediums (like soy or other vegan-friendly substrates). This means the probiotics are “trained” to thrive in coconut milk rather than dairy. By using a dedicated vegan starter, we achieve a more consistent fermentation without ever needing dairy.

Why does Gutsuka contain saturated fat?

The saturated fat in Gutsuka comes naturally from our coconut base. Unlike long-chain fats found in animal products, coconuts are rich in Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs).

MCTs are a unique type of fat that the body digests easily and converts into immediate energy rather than storing as fat. They are also widely recognized for their ability to support a healthy metabolism and provide natural antimicrobial benefits.

How can I enjoy Gutsuka yogurt?

Gutsuka is incredibly versatile. You can enjoy it simply on its own, or topped with fresh fruit and granola for a classic breakfast.

Beyond the bowl, it’s a perfect plant-based ingredient for smoothies, creamy lassis, or even as a base for dairy-free ice cream. In the kitchen, it works beautifully in baking (like cakes and puddings) or as a tangy base for savory dipping sauces.

You can find many of these ideas and more in our digital recipe catalog on this website.

How long will my Gutsuka yogurt stay fresh?

To keep Gutsuka at its best, please store it in the refrigerator at or below 4°C. When kept chilled, our yogurt typically has a shelf-life up to 28 days. Because we use no artificial preservatives, we recommend enjoying it by the “Best By” date or within 3 to 5 days after opening. Storing longer than that allows molds, yeast and slow-growing bacteria to grow and spoil the yogurt.

A few tips to maintain freshness:

Can I freeze Gutsuka yogurt?

While you can freeze our yogurt, we generally don’t recommend it. Freezing can cause the natural coconut fats to separate, which adversely affects the smooth, creamy texture once it thaws. For the best experience, we recommend enjoying it fresh and chilled directly from the refrigerator.

Tip: If you want a frozen treat, Gutsuka is delicious when blended into a smoothie or used as a base for dairy-free “nice cream” rather than being frozen directly in the jar.

How can I stock Gutsuka at my supermarket, café, or store?

We’d love to help you bring our yogurt to your customers. Gutsuka is currently available through several distributors in Selangor. To discuss wholesale opportunities, please message or contact us at WhatsApp (+6010-2951977).
